1D Bags Best Artist Award at AMAs

For the second year in a row, One Direction scooped the prize for artist of the year, at the American Music awards. The group also won in the favorite pop/rock duo or group category that night.

“This is a testament to how incredible our fans are,” Louis Tomlinson told the crowd upon taking the stage. One Direction also won the fan-voted honor last year.

The American Music awards were presented by Jennifer Lopez, who began the show in spectacular style with a Las Vegas-style dance medley of the biggest hits of the year.

Although Taylor Swift did not attend the awards, she won three of the biggest prizes, including song and album of the year for Bad Blood and 1989.
