5 Healthy Alternatives To Unhealthy Foods

There is no harm in having a hamburger, pizza or ice-cream once in a while but making them a part of your daily routine leads to an unhealthy diet. More than 50% of men and women in India are obese. Obesity increases health risk by giving birth to heart diseases, diabetes, blood pressure, etc. PCOD is a common disorder found in 1 out of every 5 women. It is an ovarian disorder which is caused by an unhealthy lifestyle and can be cured by eating healthy and exercising regularly. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind and a positive lifestyle.

Here are some alternatives to popular unhealthy foods. These alternatives will not only help you to reduce the unhealthy food you are consuming but will also help you change your eating habits and allow you to stay healthy and fit.

Frozen Yoghurt

Ice cream is everyone’s guilty pleasure. A great alternative to ice cream is frozen yoghurt. You can make frozen yoghurt ice cream by mixing some fruit with yoghurt, adding little honey for sweetness and freezing it. It is guilt free ice cream you can enjoy anytime and you know it’s healthy because no preservatives went into it only fresh ingredients.

Dark Chocolate

Chocolate is loved by everyone no matter what their age is. Swap your regular milk chocolate or white chocolate to dark chocolate which will help you cut down your sugar intake. Dark chocolate is known to have a high amount of antioxidants and is rich in iron, copper, zinc, magnesium. Dark chocolate is proven very effective to reduce heart disease risks. Dark chocolate increases the blood circulation in the body and may reduce blood pressure risks.

Veggie chips

Potato chips are fried and very unhealthy for daily consumption. An alternative to potato chips is veggie chips that may include beetroot and sweet potato. Slice these vegetables thinly coat them with some olive oil, salt and pepper, put them on a baking tray and bake them for 8-10 minutes at 180oC. Store them in a container and eat them whenever you like.

Avocado

Avocado, not in all situations, can serve as a very good alternative for butter. It has a smooth and creamy texture and is much higher in fat than most other fruits which makes it a great substitute for butter in many baked goods like cakes and brownies. It consists of fibre and is rich in vitamins and minerals, such as B-vitamins, vitamin K, potassium, copper, vitamin E and vitamin C. you can also incorporate it into your daily breakfast routine.

Replace your snacks with dried fruits, dates and nuts it will boost the nutritional value in your diet.
