Antaragni 2019 – The Cultural Festival Of IIT Kanpur

Every year the month of October witnesses one of the most awaited collegiate cultural fiesta – Antaragni, the cultural festival of IIT Kanpur. Antaragni (estd. 1965) is organised by a team of students of the institute. Running a legacy of 54 years, it has expanded and evolved into the biggest cultural extravaganza in North India and Asia as well. Antaragni marks an eruption of cultural flair and creative exuberance that is the hallmark of our national diversity in general, and our institute in particular, thus defining the purpose it seeks to fulfil. Antaragni witnesses participation of students from over 350 top colleges from all across India. Students from a plethora of fields – humanities, engineering, science, commerce, economics, law and medicine participate in the events with great gusto and zeal. The fest experienced over 125,000 footfall and over 22,000,000 eyeballs last year. Antaragni’19 is scheduled to be held from 17th October to 20th October 2019.

DANCE EVENTS

Dance events are one of the most important showcases of Antaragni and attract tremendous participation of over 600 dance enthusiasts coming from more than 50 colleges spread across the country. The Dance competitions provide the participants with a platform and opportunity to exhibit their talents and skills through a variety of challenging competitions of multiple styles and dance forms. In the past, the audience reception over the 4 days of Dance competitions at Antaragni has been immense with a footfall of over 10,000 giving a pure evidence of the popularity and reach. The competitions are stimulating and provide great professional experience to the participants. Dance events comprise of five competitions: Jitterbug (group dance competition), Tour De Force (street dance competition), Estampie (solo western dance competition), Nrityangana (classical dance competition), Roots (folk group dance competition).

DRAMATICS EVENTS

 Dramatics competitions at Antaragni witnesses tremendous participation from over 900 Students coming from   50 colleges in north India. The Dramatics competitions include Street Play, Stage Play, and Mime (Mimica). The audience reception during the   4 days of the Dramatics competitions at IIT Kanpur is immense with a footfall of over 12,000. The competitions are widely renowned and professionally conducted with a high standard of participation. The judges are professionally renowned and acclaimed theatre experts nationwide like  Mr.Akhilendra Mishra, Mr.Surendra   Pal, Mr.Rakesh Bedi, Mr.Rajesh Sharma, Mr.Virendra Saxena, Mr.Harish Patel.

MUSICALS EVENTS

Musicals events organized during Antaragni oriented towards singing and Instrument playing. Musicals events attract over 500 singers and musicians from over 50 colleges across India. The brilliant aural experience is what attracts a crowd to these competitions. Musical competition provides a platform for aspiring singers, musicians and music groups to showcase their talent and break into the music industry through various challenging competition involving various genres of music.
