Atharva bagged the Kohinoor Cricket League Trophy

The first season of Kohinoor Cricket League was a two days inter-collegiate cricket competition for B-Schools organized by Kohinoor Business School which took place on the 31st of October and 01st of November 2015 at the Kohinoor City Club Ground, Kohinoor City, Vidyavihar/Kurla (W). The event had teams from around the Mumbai region. The twelve teams which competed in the preliminary round were Lala Lajpatrai, MET, Allana, Bedekar, Chetna, SIES, Atharva, D.Y. Patil, Vidyalankar, Kohinoor Business School, GNIMS Khalsa and Thakur.

The event was the first of its kind as Cricket tournaments for B-Schools by KBS. It is a concept which is untested, however the event received great support with sponsors like Afternoon – Despatch & Courier, Chauka.in, SBI, Career Launcher, Brightways, Design Waves, Kohinoor Hospital and was also supported by the Cricket India Academy (CIA).

The Chief Guest at the event was Nilesh Kulkarni who is a former Indian Test Player and has Captained Mumbai for the Ranji Trophy.

The event In-charge, Mr. Bryan D’souza, Head Marketing Corporate Communications – Kohinoor Education Trust said “We take a lot of pride in organizing Kohinoor Cricket League – Session 1. The tournament is an unique concept for B-schools. I have always believed that more synergy is required between Management colleges; it is good to see players from various B-Schools across Mumbai region coming together on one platform. It is the competitiveness amongst these players representing their respective management colleges that has not only brought the best out of them but also has developed friendship and bonding among these students”.

The lush green ground at the Kohinoor City Club Ground was filled with students cheering for their team. The final of the tournament lived up to the quality displayed by all teams through the tournament. After winning the toss Atharva put Vidyalankar in to bat and successfully scored 102 run targets to win Rs 10000 price money and lift the beautiful trophy.

The runners up also received a trophy and Rs 5000 as a cash price for their performance apart from the team performances the Individual performance also were rewarded were Faisal from Atharva College awarded as Best Bat’sman, Abhijeet from Atharva College awarded as Best Bowler and Omkar Lad from Vidyalankar College awarded All Rounder with the cash price of Rs. 2500 and a trophy respectively.

All team members were awarded a participating certificate for their efforts.

The event was finally concluded in the presence of Dr. A A Attarwala, Director – Kohinoor Business School and Mr. Bryan DSouza, Head Marketing and Corporate Communications – KET. The event was a success due to the hard work put in by the students of Kohinoor Business School and the support of Sponsors and Partners. In its first year the event also showcased some innovative ideas such as draws for team selection, live score updates on Chauka.in etc. Looking at the triumph of the first season one can only guess how majestic is the Kohinoor Cricket League-Season II going to be.
