Scholarship for undergraduate and PG master’s courses in Scotland

The faculty of science at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow has announced a new international scholarship scheme.

  • The value of each scholarship, for both undergraduate degrees and postgraduate master’s courses, is £3,000.
  • Unsponsored non-EU students should apply before 31 May.

Only 2 in 20 Indian Tech Grads Considered ‘World Class’

According to a study, less than 5% of India’s 3,56,000 engineering and  technology graduates are suitable for jobs in multinationals like Google and 50% remain unemployed or find ‘very small jobs’.

  • The study – carried out by a technology consultancy firm, Knowledgefaber – also says that IT capability is concentrated amongst a handful of states and institutions across the nation.
  • In short, the supply of high-quality IIT and REC graduates is far less than the demand.

 

Cisco Deploys Virtual Lecture Facility in Bits Pilani

Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani has successfully deployed Cisco WebExtechnologies.

  • This will benefit its 11,000 students and 700 teachers.
  • Through this technology, BITS will conduct interactive lectures with international experts and workshops in real-time and record lectures for future reference.

UK College to Conduct Summer School in Mumbai and Delhi

King’s College London is conducting Summer School 2013 for  graduates and undergraduates on subjects like media, culture, e-commerce, political economy  among others.

  • It will hold sessions in Delhi between 3 and 28 June and a pre-university programme at Mumbai between 3 and 7 June.
  • Highest achieving students will be granted scholarships to study in London at King’s College’s Summer School.

Symbiosis Offers MBA in Communication Management

Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC), Pune is offering a full-time MBA in  Communication Management.

  • The degree covers three disciplines – advertising, PR and media management, while touching upon subjects like product management, consumer behaviour, research and marketing among others.

EU to EASE visa Norms for Visiting Students and Researchers by 2016

Subject to the European Parliament’s approval, EU will ease visa norms for non-EU students and researchers by  2016.

  • The new norms will guarantee results on visa applications across 24 EU states within 60 days. However, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Denmark are not included in this proposal.

Jamia Millia to hold Summer School

Jamia Millia Islamia University, in collaboration with the ministry of tourism will conduct an international summer school from 16 June to 26 July to promote Indian culture.

  • The programme will take in 70 candidates who will study through a mix of verbal lectures, documentaries, field trips, seminars, etc.
  • Scholarships will be awarded based on merit and cultural understanding and knowledge.
