Former President Pratibha Patil asks Government to fund car and daily fuel expenses

Shortly after the sad demise of India’s most revered president, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, comes a shocker from Pratibha Patil, former President of India.

In a rather peculiar series of demands, she has asked the government to foot the bill for her (government awarded) vehicle and the fuel expenses for the same.  The Indian Government’s generosity is usually unsurpassable when it comes to the perks, and other benefits former heads of states and ministers or Presidents are allowed. The issue has now been taken up by the Home Ministry; soon after she denied the government vehicle offered to her as she did not like it.

Pratibha Patil is no stranger to the limelight or controversies. During her tenure, her family members often accompanied her on foreign trips, all paid for by honest taxpaying citizens of our country. A sorry state of affairs must we say?
