The Hindustan Group of Institutions (HGI) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Indian Navy and the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association (NWWA) through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Formalized at NWWA Kendra in New Delhi, this collaboration is set to enhance educational and skill development opportunities for Naval families through HGI’s leading institutions—Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) and KCG College of Technology (KCG Tech). The MoU outlines structured fee concessions for three categories of naval families: wards of naval personnel who have died in harness, wards of serving naval personnel, and wards of retired naval personnel.
The MoU was signed by Mrs. Shashi Tripathi, President of NWWA, in the presence of Commodore Urooj Ather, Head of Education. Representing HGI, Col. (Hon.) Dr. S.N. Sridhara, Vice Chancellor of HITS, formalized the agreement.
Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chairman of HGI, emphasized the institution’s deep-rooted military connections, stating: “This partnership builds on our longstanding commitment to the defence forces. With all three wings of the NCC actively functioning on our campuses, we’ve consistently fostered the values of discipline and service that are central to military excellence.
He further added: “Our educational approach naturally aligns with military values. By extending these fee concessions, we are not only honouring naval families but also strengthening the pipeline of disciplined, skilled professionals dedicated to serving the nation. HGI has a strong track record of preparing students for careers in the armed forces, with many of our alumni securing prestigious military positions. Notably, HITS introduced a special scholarship program last year for the wards of military personnel, reinforcing our commitment to supporting defence families.” This newly established partnership includes significant financial assistance to enhance access to quality higher education for naval families. These scholarships recognize the unique challenges faced by service families and acknowledge their contributions to the nation.
The initiative covers a broad spectrum of undergraduate disciplines, including engineering, aviation, management, architecture, law, design, liberal arts, and health sciences. Naval families can obtain detailed information about these scholarships through NWWA’s education department or by reaching out to HITS or KCG Tech directly. Through this MoU, HGI continues its tradition of fostering military affiliations, supporting naval families, and strengthening the nation’s defence community by offering top tier educational opportunities.
