Porn Passes To Curb Number Of Children Watching Porn In The UK

The UK has found a unique way to solve the issue of juveniles gaining access to adult websites. They have issued a ‘porn pass’ which allows you to access X-rated websites without having to reveal your personal details.

Previously, adult websites generally used to request for the credit card details of the visitor as credit cards are only issued to a person above the age of 18 in the UK. However, adults were wary about providing personal information especially whilst viewing porn.

This comes after the British Board of Film Classification made it necessary to prove you are of a certain age to gain access to certain websites. It is also unreasonable to ask adults for their driving license or passport details online.

This problem has been solved after the introduction of porn passes that can be collected from newsagents, which is a sixteen-digit pin number that can be entered into the website without revealing your personal information.

The newsagent should be shown a passport or a relevant ID which proves that you are 18 to acquire the card. The price of the card stands at £10, which is equivalent to around 917 Indian rupees. This legislation is to curb the number of children watching porn online and gaining access to adult websites.

In a world where data protection has become a priority, especially after the infamous Facebook scandal, the UK government is looking to protect data while also protecting its children from viewing content that is not suitable to their age.

In India, there is huge controversy and the taboo on porn. Such legislation can probably even help the Indian government tackle issues of pornography and its access within India. With children these days having the know-how of the internet at an early age, the number of them with access to porn is rising at an alarming rate. Such legislation could immensely decrease those numbers.
