Sophia College’s Kaleidoscope Festival is Back with its Theme, ‘Cinecity’ on the 24th and 25th of August

Mumbai in August is bustling with activity, but for the students of Sophia College, it is especially exhilarating this year. As Kaleidoscope enters its 39th edition, the theme “Cinecity” promises to transform the campus into a vibrant film metropolis. With elimination days starting on August  20th, the executive committee and workforce have been pouring their hearts into making the festival a successful reality. 

Preparations for Kaleidoscope have been in full swing, with a series of fun and engaging activities already underway. The Flashmob at Infiniti Mall, Malad, was a standout success, with the Pre-K team attracting deafening applause from the crowd. Adding to the excitement, the college hosted a cosplay event inspired by the Met Galas of past decades accompanied by glambots and small businesses to amp up the atmosphere.  

The workforce also partnered with UNICEF for an insightful talk on anaemia, which aimed to raise awareness about the condition through presentations, quizzes, and interactive games. A special highlight of the pre-fest activities was a visit from the cast of the hit film Ishq Vishk Rebound actors starring Rohit Saraf, Jibraan Khan, Pashmina Roshan and Naila Grewal. They interacted with students, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and joined the dance team teaching dance steps from their movie. 

Kaleidoscope 2024 features a distinguished panel of judges, including Terence Lewis for Zara Nachke Dikha and celebrated choreographer Geeta Kapur as the lead judge for Scream. The elimination days was graced by the likes of Erika Packard for Unhinged: The Ultimate Roasting  Battle and Pulkit Kochar for Sur ke Asur The festival has created an electric atmosphere on campus, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience. 

The festival kicked off with the highly anticipated Ishq Vishk Rebound cast meet, where students enjoyed a memorable interaction with their favourite stars. Following this, Kaleidoscope 2024 collaborated with Universal Studios for Despicable Me 4 movie promotion. Students dressed as gentle-minions, participated in Minion Trivia and won cute Minion merchandise. Event highlights  included dance performances, painting booths, and an exciting giveaway of the IMAX premiere tickets for the film. 

Team Public Relations hosted the Kaleidoscope × Sad Girls happy hours featured a curated brunch with live performances by Urooj Ashfaq, Kamakshi Khanna and Maalvika Manoj. Team PR also collaborated with PVR INOX and organised a scavenger hunt on campus, with winners receiving tickets to Borderlands.  

Kaleidoscope kept the excitement going with the YouTube Fanfest quiz, offering more chances to win tickets, and the Kscope Mela, which enticed visitors with a variety of stalls selling everything from jewellery to delectable food items. The festival also included a beautiful display by Plush, featuring small games and freebies. In a unique twist, a seminar on anaemia was made engaging through interactive presentations and games, thanks to Dr Vyoma Dalal and Irin Chatterjee from  UNICEF. 

The festival’s mini Flashmobs at the college canteen and Marine Drive were thrilling, but the main  Flashmob at Infiniti Mall, Malad, was spectacular. The Sholay spoof dubbed “Chhole,” featured plot twists that captivated the crowd. Cinemania, the festival’s cosplay event, allowed attendees to flaunt their outfits on the ramp and explore stalls showcasing a range of products. The photo booth proved to be a hit, capturing countless exhilarating moments. 

To celebrate and appreciate the hardworking team behind the scenes, the Hall of Fame karaoke and DJ night with DJ Yohan night filled with music, laughter, and dance. With all these pre-fest events setting the stage, the anticipation for Kaleidoscope 2024: CineCity is at its peak. Attendees are encouraged to pick out their favourite outfits, clear their schedules, and join in the cinematic celebration on August 24th and 25th.
