These 10 Characters from Bollywood Movies Will Teach You To Love Yourself

Bollywood movies have always been the greatest and most effective mood-changers when all the other plans go down the drain. We seek comfort in these movies, the stories they narrate and especially the characters with whom we relate the most. My constant mood is always similar to Rani’s from Queen when she goes “mera toh life itna kharaab hogaya.”

Besides romance, our Bollywood movies also teach us to love ourselves through the various characters. If you have been self-sabotaging for far too long, you need to revisit the lives of these Bollywood characters to remind yourself that self-love is equally important to prioritize.

Geet From Jab We Met

How often do you tell yourself, “mai apni favourite hu”? Geet is full of life and has her own fundas when it comes to living a happy and contented life. Believe it or not, if you adopt even one habit of Geet’s, you will start loving yourself.

Farhaan and Laila From Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

There is no one who doesn’t love this movie. One of the main reason for the amount of love this movie garners is that its characters teach you to take a break from the monotonous life and live a little. The happy-go-lucky Imraan and the ever-positive Laila make our hearts warm when they show us how life is to be lived and loved.

Aisha From Wake Up Sid

Her calm and positive attitude towards life is what attracts all to her. The zest to be independent and live life on her own terms is what we all must strive to achieve

Bunny From Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani

Need I have to say anything? Kabir Thapar aka Bunny is by far the most enthusiastic character in the Bollywood movies who is so full of life that he embarks upon adventures as and when his heart orders him to.  He is the one who seeks all that he wants in life without waiting for anyone’s approval.

Aman From Kal Ho Na Ho

Yes, we all sobbed over his death, but in spite of having his days numbered, Aman didn’t stop living. He too is another character who taught us to live life carrying a bright smile on our faces and letting go off all the worries.

Mili From Khoobsurat

Lost in her own world, Mili taught us to add a touch of madness to a very serious life. She taught us to laugh out loud and live freely.

Rani From Queen

A simple woman who has always been trapped in a life the society set up for her, Rani courageously chooses to go on her honeymoon alone and enjoy all by herself. A step of disassociating her happiness from all others and setting out on an adventure all by herself is something we need to imbibe. She made us realize that going on an outing all alone is the best feeling ever. Try it out if you haven’t already.

Poo from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

Poo is drenched with self-love. The amount of self-confidence this character has is surreal but if we could even love ourselves half as how Poo loves herself, our happiness will know no bounds. Agreed?

Jug From Dear Zindagi

In spite of doing absolutely well in life, we are always hard on ourselves. We subject ourselves to negative thoughts about self. This is exactly what Kaira does to herself. The movie teaches not just Kaira but us as well to experiment with things in life, to be comfortable in our own skins, and stop controlling things excessively which results in unnecessary pain.

Piku From Piku

No matter how tough life gets for Piku, she makes sure she has a separate life of her own where she does things only for herself. We all have responsibilities to take care of, but we also have ourselves to take care of.

There are other characters from Bollywood movies who too, teach us to put ourselves first or to love ourselves. If you have any such characters in mind, let us know in the comments below.
