Wordmsith of the Month: Pawan Badlani

Pawan Badlani doesn’t limit his poetic endeavours to a single subject or language even! From witty poems about college degrees to shayaris on love, Pawan readily explores his affair with words. The poem featured below offers a glimpse into Pawan’s extensive writing collection.

Emptiness
Ever thought why grains don’t speak,
Shadows don’t clutter,
Or chairs don’t gossip.
Its a trait of sheer tenderness,
And a supreme state of emptiness.
Every inch is a metre, without the poise,
Every whisper is a speech, without the noise.
Do you wonder why you ever thought this way,
Or day dreamt, how you learnt life today.
Its a talent to cherish, and a moment to mesmerize.
Silence is the state of humanity,
Break it and it burns us to insanity.
Tears are the tools of happiness,
Since smiling doesn’t last long anyway.
Listen to your inner silence with restlesness,
Because it’s a tender state of mind, emptiness.
