United Motorsports Academy (UMA), in association with RGB Racing Team, has taken a major step forward in its flagship initiative – UMA Bootcamp 2025. After receiving hundreds of applications, the program has now finalized its cohort of 30 participants who have departed for Spain for an intensive 18-day training programme with global motorsport experts.
The timing could not be more relevant. As per Market Research Future; Global Market Insights Inc. the India Motorsport Products Market, valued at USD 2.92 billion in 2024, is projected to more than double to USD 6.7 billion by 2035, while the global motorsport industry, pegged at USD 9.5 billion in 2024, is forecasted to grow at a healthy 8.1% CAGR between 2025–2034. This strong market trajectory reflects the growing youth enthusiasm for motorsport and the rapid expansion of domestic racing events making initiatives like UMA Bootcamp timely interventions to prepare Indian engineers for global opportunities.
Omkar Rane, Founder, UMA & D&O Motorsports: “Our vision is to empower India’s next generation of motorsport engineers by giving them access to world-class training and mentorship. UMA Bootcamp 2025 is not just a program; it’s the beginning of a larger movement to build indigenous talent that can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in the world.”
Rigorous Selection Process
The bootcamp’s final 30 participants were chosen through a multi-stage evaluation process. Applicants were required to submit a detailed questionnaire and a video statement explaining their motivation and eligibility. The emphasis on video submissions ensured authenticity and sincerity, distinguishing genuine passion from generic online responses.
From hundreds of applications, 60 candidates were shortlisted for one-on-one interviews with industry professionals. Based on their technical understanding, past projects, communication skills, and industry insights, the top 30 were selected.
Participant Profile
The group reflects a diverse and dynamic representation of India’s motorsport talent:
- Geography: Participants hail from metropolitan hubs including Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, as well as Indian students studying in the UK and Germany.
- Age Range: 17 to 35 years from students building simulators at home to professionals pursuing motorsport as a passion.
- Academic Background: Predominantly Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, with specialisations in Motorsport Engineering. Some participants also come from non-engineering backgrounds, united by their shared drive to enter motorsport.

This diversity mirrors the wider engineering ecosystem in India. The country produces nearly 1 million engineers annually across 3,500+ colleges, making it the world’s largest engineering talent pool. While enrolment in traditional streams has slowed, niche areas such as motorsport and electric mobility are seeing fresh traction. With over 2.1 million EV sales in FY 2024–25, demand is surging for engineers skilled in vehicle dynamics, telemetry, and performance systems precisely the areas UMA Bootcamp immerses participants in.
Among the final 30, some inspiring journeys highlight the spirit of UMA Bootcamp 2025:
- Daivik (17 years): A self-taught builder and innovator who has studied the Porsche GT3 RS in depth and dreams of becoming an aerodynamicist for global racing teams.
- Shantanu (27 years): A Mechanical Engineering graduate whose motorsport journey began as an intern at D&O Motorsports during his college years. Now a Design Engineer at D&O for six years, Shantanu has worked closely with Omkar and the team on diverse projects ranging from film props to cutting-edge engineering applications. His expertise spans 3D printing, 3D scanning, CAD, and motorsport fundamentals such as corner weight balancing, tire pressures, and aerodynamics.
- Mohita Santosh (19 years): A long-time mentee of UMA founder Omkar Rane, already a scholarship recipient at MUNER, who values the UMA Bootcamp for its real-world industry exposure and networking opportunities.
Departure to Spain
The participants departed on August 19, 2025, travelling in three groups from Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore, along with others joining from the UK, Doha, Dubai, and Germany. All 30 participants have now successfully reached Spain for the programme.
Global Training with RGB Racing
The 18-day bootcamp in Spain covers vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, race strategy, and telemetry, with a blend of theory and hands-on learning, culminating in an evaluation that will identify the top 5 performers, who will secure exclusive global internships with RGB Racing Team. The selection for internships will be made only after the bootcamp’s conclusion.
Mentors include Le Mans–winning professionals and experts currently working with F1 teams, ensuring the participants get cutting-edge insights and global-standard mentorship.
The UMA Bootcamp has already established itself as a landmark initiative in Indian motorsports. Looking ahead, UMA plans to expand its footprint with programs in India and pathways to global motorsports through collaborations with teams and academies from other countries.
